What is Multi-Action Actifed Dry Coughs?
Multi-Action Actifed Dry Coughs is a medicine that is intended to relieve the effects of a dry cough. This liquid contains three active ingredients that help to treat the symptoms of a dry cough. These ingredients are:
- Dextromethorphan hydrobromide
- Pseudoephedrine hydrochloride
- Triprolidine hydrochloride
Dextromethorphan is a cough suppressant that helps to stop a cough from occurring. Pseudoephedrine is a decongestant that helps to relieve the effects of a blocked nose by thinning the blood vessels that have become swollen due to an infection. Triprolidine is an antihistamine that treats several symptoms, including sneezing, a runny nose, and watery eyes.
What causes a dry cough?
A dry cough can be caused by several different conditions. The most common causes are a cold, the flu, and allergies. A dry begins as a result of irritation in the throat because of germs that have entered the body. It is often the case that these germs spread, causing other symptoms. Who is this Multi-Action medicine suitable for?
This medicine is suitable to be used by adults and children aged 12 and over. Anyone who is allergic to the ingredients contained in the medicine should not use it. This medicine should also not be used by anyone who any of the following applies to:
- Very high blood pressure
- Severe heart disease
- Taken antidepressants are known as Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs) in the last 14 days
- Taking the antibacterial agent furazolidone
- Have a long-term cough, or a cough that brings up blood
- Taking any other cough treatments

Can someone who is pregnant or breastfeeding use this medicine?
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, then it is recommended that you speak to a medical professional before using this medicine.
How should Multi-Action Actifed Dry Coughs be used?
Using the included measuring spoon, measure out 5ml and take it by swallowing the syrup. Take 10ml of the medicine every 4-6 hours as needed, up to 4 times a day. If symptoms still appear after using this medicine, speak to a doctor or pharmacist.
Are there any side effects?
Like with many medicines, there is a chance of side effects. Potential side effects include:
- Hallucinations, though it is very rare
- Itchy skin rashes
- An increased heartbeat
- Men with prostate issues may find it more difficult to pass water
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Upset stomach
- Drowsiness
