What are Multi-Action Actifed Tablets?
These tablets are a form of treatment that works to relieve the effects of a cold, the flu, or an allergy. These tablets contain two active ingredients, which are:
- Pseudoephedrine hydrochloride
- Triprolidine hydrochloride
Pseudoephedrine is a decongestant that helps to treat nasal congestion by thinning the blood vessels that have become swollen as a result of an infection. Triprolidine is an antihistamine that stops sneezing, a runny nose, and watery eyes.
What causes a cold or the flu?
Both of the cold and the flu are viral infections that are caused by germs that spread through the air by someone who is infected coughing or sneezing, or who has touched hard surfaces. Germs on surfaces that have been touched can last for up to 24 hours.
Who are these tablets suitable for?
These Actifed tablets are suitable to be used by adults and children aged 12 and over. Anyone who is allergic to the ingredients contained in the tablets should not use them. These tablets should also not be used by anyone who has or has had any of the following:
- Very high blood pressure
- Severe heart disease
- Taking or taken in the last 14 days antidepressants known as Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors
If you are taking any medication for any other condition, speak to a doctor or pharmacist before using.
Can someone who is pregnant or breastfeeding use these tablets?

How should Multi-Action Actifed Tablets be used?
Take one tablet every 4-6 hours up to four times a day. If symptoms persist after using, speak to a doctor for advice.
Are there any side effects?
Like with many medicines, there is a chance of side effects. Potential side effects when using these tablets include:
- Skin rashes that can be itchy
- An increased heartbeat
- Men with prostate problems may experience trouble passing urine
